Front Office Team

Jill R.

After working in customer service for over 30 years, Jill thought that an opportunity to work in the dental field would be a great fit for her. That was over ten years ago and she has been doing an amazing job helping our patients ever since. The most rewarding part of the job for Jill is her relationship with the patients. She feels like they are a second family. She strives to ensure they feel comfortable and at ease with all aspects of our office. She loves the appreciate she feels from them.

Jill is married to her husband, Jeff, and they have one adult son. In her spare time she enjoys traveling to watch their son play collegiate soccer, heading up north, reading by the water, and spending time with family and friends.

Melissa's father and uncle are both dentists and she said that this influence led to her knowing from a very young age that she wanted to be in some kind of medical profession. Her long time patients and co-workers are the highlights of her job, and she really enjoys helping patients improve their oral health and maintaining their smiles.

When Melissa isn't in the office, she enjoys going for walks with her husband and their dog Annie. She also loves to watch her two beautiful daughters, Adi and Lilly, play soccer. Her summers are spent boating and being on the water whenever she can.

Registered Dental Hygienist Team

Breanna M., RDH

Breanna knew that she wanted to join the dental field from a very young age. She always loved going to the dentist, and she loved to “pick” at things! She started her dental career as a dental assistant and filled that role for over four years while she was on the waiting list and in the dental hygiene program. She has now been a dental hygienist since 2022 and loves it. She enjoys that her job allows her to work independently with her patients but also work as a team with her co-workers. When Breanna isn’t “picking” at teeth, she likes to play soccer and ride her motorcycle. She is engaged to her fiance, Eli, with a wedding in August 2023. At home Breanna and Eli have two cats named Nami and Eevee.

Joelle K., RDH

Joelle started her career in dentistry back in high school where she worked as a file clerk in the dental office that her mother worked in. Seeing how much her mother enjoyed the dental field prompted Joelle to go into Dental Hygiene. She worked as a front office assistant and dental assistant while in the Dental Hygiene program at FVTC, graduating in 1999. Joelle feels that finding a job you are passionate about makes it easy to go to work. She finds the greatest joy with her job in helping patients understand how their overall health impacts their dental health.

When not working Joelle enjoys walking, biking, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family. Her family consists of her husband, Dale, and three adult daughters and their significant others.

Laurie R., RDH

Laurie started her dental career after graduating from the dental hygiene program at FVTC in 2005. Her interest in dentistry was sparked by a relative who is also a dental hygienist. Laurie finds fulfillment in her job by providing quality care to her patients and getting to know them and build relationships over time.

When Laurie isn’t providing excellent care to her patients she enjoys traveling and spending time with family, friends, and her pets. At home she has two dogs named Beaker and Peanut, and two cats named Minnie and Pixie.

Lisa P., RDH

Lisa's career in dentistry was decided upon when she was in high school and was trying to make that big choice of a career path. Her mom was a dental assistant and suggested that she would make a great hygienist. Lisa ran with the idea and has now been practicing dental hygiene for over 26 years. Lisa finds gratification in her job through her patients. She treasures the bond she has made with them over the years through caring for them and helping to make them healthier. She also loves that she learns something new every single day in this career.

In Lisa's spare time she enjoys walking her dog, boating, traveling, and the ocean. She loves the ocean and the beach and visits her parents in Daytona whenever she can. Lisa has a husband, Carl, and two daughters, Lily (18) and Addison (15). They have a golden retriever named Chance and a ragdoll cat named Phoebe.

Peggy M., RDH

Peggy was fortunate enough to get into the dental hygiene program right out of high school and started her career back in 1975. She has been providing excellent dental care to her patients for over 47 years! She chose this career because she wanted a job in the healthcare field and she felt that her family dentist and his wife had a big influence on her when she was choosing what she wanted to do. She felt that dental hygiene would be a great fit for her. Peggy continues to enjoy this field because of the people she is able to meet. She feels that everyone has a unique situation and she finds joy and a great sense of accomplishment in applying her skills to help them to improve their dental health, which affects their overall health and quality of life. She feels that the patients impact her life just as much as she does theirs.

Peggy loves to read, quilt (although she claims to be a novice), doing diamond art, and take part in women's bible study on her days off. The greatest joy in her life is spending time with her family including her adult children and grandchildren. Peggy's family consists of her husband, four adult children and their spouses, three grandsons, and twin granddaughters expected December 2022.

After over 47 years as a dental hygienist and 44 years with Dr. Scharine and Elite Smiles, Peggy will be starting a new position January 2023 as a Retiree! While we will miss Peggy greatly, and she will not easily be replaced, we wish her so much happiness in her new venture of retirement.
